The Zamir Choral Foundation offered a musical celebration of light and freedom in a concert at Merkin Concert Hall in Manhattan on Tuesday evening, December 3 (the 7th night of Hanukkah) at 7:30 p.m. Conducted by Maestro Matthew Lazar, the program featured the renowned Zamir Chorale as well as the debut of Zamir Noded, the Foundation’s newest initiative for singers aged 18-30.
The program highlighted music of the Hanukkah season, as well as other gems from the Jewish choral repertoire. The concert also included a performance of “Martin’s Dream,” by David Burger, a setting of text from the Rev. Martin Luther King’s landmark speech whose 50th anniversary was observed earlier this year.
