Conductor: Conductor: Kelly Shepard hails from Richmond, Indiana, where he began singing and performing at an early age.  (His high school wrestling aspirations gave way to leading roles in The Sound of Music and Guys and Doll!)  He has sung professionally for 25 years and his experiences range from performing at Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, Virginia, to singing in civic and professional operas and musical productions. He has been conducting the Los Angeles chapter of HaZamir for the past 8 years.  You might also find Kelly somewhere else in the world coaching, teaching, judging or performing. His current passions involve singing Barbershop Quartet music!  In fact, he’s had the honor of placing as high as 3rd place in the Barbershop Harmony Society International Contest with the comedy quartet, Metropolis.  Mr. Shepard holds a Bachelor of Music Education (with High Distinction) from the Indiana University School of Music in Bloomington. Mr. Shepard serves as the Department Chair of Performing Arts at Milken Community High School.  He also teaches vocal music classes and directs the Jewish choral group, Kol Echad.  Mr. Shepard has been Musical Director for all the musicals produced at Milken, including Anything Goes, Once Upon a Mattress, Little Shop of Horrors, Leader of the Pack, Bye Bye Birdie, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Damn Yankees, Guys and Dolls, Seussical, The Wizard of Oz, When We Were Heroes, Little Shop of Horrors (again!), Sweeney Todd, The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, WORKING, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Man of La Mancha, Spamalot!, GREASE!, and this year's Into the Woods.
