Kinor David Award

The Zamir Choral Foundation's Kinor David Award was given to Elena Neuman Lefkowitz and Jay Lefkowitz at the HaZamir Carnegie Hall Concert today.  Matthew Lazar presented Elena and Jay with a beautiful lithograph created by renowned artist Mark Podwal.

Upon acceptance Elena shared, "HaZamir, Zamir Chorale, Zamir Noded and the Zamir Choral Foundation are important to me because I believe in the power and magic of choral music."

Jay said, "Music is indeed the pathway to the soul. And Hebrew songs awaken in us something foundational about our experience as Jews."

Jay then proceeded to sing on the Carnegie stage some of the words of one of the most popular songs of the early days of the Jewish state, Shirat Hanoar Shir Atidenu - the "song of our youth is really the song of our future."
